Probably two of the most talked about subjects on the internet today are netbooks and the iPhone, so why build a gadget that integrates both devices in one, right? Well, that’s what OLO computer maker has planned in the future by coming out with a netbook that has the iPhone running at the very core. A dock, so to speak, is featured at the trackpad area where you can lay down the iPhone to power the netbook and likewise use it as the trackpad for the device. Very creative thinking if I should say so myself, but while definite plans for its release are still scarce and everything is just a concept at the moment, I’m not exactly optimistic how Apple will appreciate this new found fondness for their mobile phone. Similarly, with an Apple event scheduled to go live tomorrow, they may even launch a netbook of their own which might just spoil the plans of OLO and their iPhone-powered netbook. Nevertheless, this is a unique but utterly expensive idea considering that you’ll have to buy both the netbook and an iPhone just to make it work. Totally ingenious, but totally impractical as well.

Those looking to get a BlackBerry Bold or Storm might just want to exercise a little patience as we’ve found out that RIM is already hard at work at some juicy new products. Based on what BGR was able to gather from two independent sources, RIM’s got a new baby that features a 5-megapixel auto-focus camera, 1GB RAM and a “near HD quality” display. It’s rumored to look like a combination of the Storm and Bold molded into one device which could mean a touchscreen, QWERTY-equipped phone in the not so distant future. Likewise, it was also revealed that a Storm 2 is already in production so it might be a good decision to skip out on the 1st gen Storm since 2nd gen devices are likely to be better than the 1st one. So, got enough EQ to wait things out or are you waiting for something more significant and definite to hold off your insatiable desire to buy a new BlackBerry phone?

We like what the Dell Inspiron Mini 9 has to offer, but now, you can also chalk up OS X compatibility to its list of features as well. Apple probably won’t agree on such a statement, but as evidenced by some enterprising individual, it is indeed possible to run OS X 10.5 on the Inspiron Mini. All you have to do is get a hold of a customized version of OS X for the MSI Wind, burn the .iso file to a DVD, boot and install. Once you’re done, you’ll have an OS X-running Inspiron Mini, but you’ll still have to install the Broadcom wireless adapter and audio chipset to enable WiFi and audio respectively. The question now is; is this trick limited to the Inspiron Mini only or can it also work for other netbooks as well that more or less has similar specs, like the Lenovo S10? It makes you wonder right, and maybe Apple would now like to consider coming out with their own Macbook Mini to finally offer consumers with an authentic Mac netbook for sides.

Granted that the 5800 is just the first of many devices, one of the many possible successors is an E90-ish touchscreen-packing model. Considering that the E90 is already outdated by today’ standards and based on concept phone Nokia dropped in their webcast, this updated E90 could be a potential XPERIA X1 killer if I ever saw one. Unfortunately, there’s no degree of certainty if this will ever materialize or not, but one thing’s definite at the moment, Nokia’s now part of the whole touchscreen phone ballgame and we can expect more touchscreen-toting devices from the company very soon.

The launching of the first Android phone, the T-Mobile G1, may have been the biggest thing to happen this week, but word has it that there’s a new Samsung product set to debut this week as well. More specifically, on September 25 the Samsung M8800, codenamed the Bresson, will finally be unveiled to the public. There’s very little we know about this phone apart from some leaked specs which include an 8-megapixel camera, 3.2-inch HD LCD, GPS, 3G, HSDPA and other multimedia capabilities. It’s pretty interesting so far, and its arrival will only solidify Samsung’s impressive line-up which already includes great phones such as the Omnia and the INNOV8, and further put some pressure on Apple and their iPhone. Anyway, September 25 is just a few days away so let’s just all cross our fingers and hope that the launching of the Samsung M8800 Bresson pushes through.

While Apple may have released a bunch of iPods including the new 4G iPod Nanos, the recently concluded Let’s Rock event had very little to say or give to iPhone fans. So, it’s not at all surprising that rumors are circling around that Apple might be readying a bigger capacity model to replace the top-of-the-line 16GB iPhone; a 32GB perhaps in early 2009? After all, if you look at the trend of the iPhone, it won’t exactly be against their philosophy since it was just earlier this year when they made the 16GB version available to the public.

Likewise, there’s also talk of at-home activation making a comeback for the iPhone which I’m sure everyone will be pleased to welcome back if and when it does push through. Anyway, all of these are just rumors and hear-say for now. Let’s all just wait and see in the next couple of months and who knows, maybe all of this might just happen before 2008 ends.

Unfortunately, aside from the image above and a rumored October release, we’ve got nothing to work on at the moment. So in lieu of a set of specs to work our imagination, we’re opening the floor to suggestions. What would you like the G705 to have? On my end, I hope it’ll feature stereo loudspeakers, a 5-megapixel camera, 6GB of internal memory, and a touchscreen interface. How about you guys; what’s your wishlist for this new Sony Ericsson G705 Walkman phone?

Do you still remember that rumor we reported earlier this year concerning the LG Prada II? Well, it’s not too far fetched after all as most of the speculated features are true which makes the 2nd gen LG Prada phone worth watching out for. It looks every bit as fashionable as the Prada I, but now touts a more business-like QWERTY keypad. I guess this is LG’s answer to the now more corporate iPhone; if the iPhone can do it, the Prada II can do it even better. The picture shown above isn’t official yet, but from what we were able to gather, the following features are more or less what we can expect from the LG Prada II:

[bgr via cellphones.ca]

Specs after the break.

- 3-inch 240×400 display
- 5-megapixel camera with autofocus and flash
- Quad-band GSM/EDGE, Dual-band HSDPA (850MHz/2100MHz)
- slide-out full QWERTY keypad
- WiFi and Bluetooth 2.1
- FM radio
- Motion sensor
- 950mAh battery
- Dimensions: 104.5 x 54 x 16.8mm

It’s a pretty good line-up of features which can outclass the 3G iPhone anytime of the day. The choice to provide a full QWERTY keypad only suggests that it’s serious in attracting businessmen as clients, but unfortunately, there’s no word on whether enterprise features will be included or not. There’s also the question on the OS, and most importantly, the price. Considering the 3G iPhone has positioned itself to be more affordable with a plan, it would be wise if LG did the same with the Prada II. The projected release date of the LG Prada II is still yet to be known so I guess we can expect more leaked (read: unofficial) info in the coming months.

Stay tuned folks!

This clone is way thin as well, which gives us the right to hope the Nano 4G will keep its slim form factor. Honestly, this Nano is less exciting than the fat third-gen Nano.

Diagrams of the iPod Nano 4G and the second-generation iPod Touch has been leaked to the Interwebs. Kevin Rose informed us that the new Nano 4G will have a curved lens but from the illustration that doesn’t seem to be the case. In fact, the forthcoming refresh of the iPod Nano is only 6.08mm slim. It was the new iPod Touch 2G that added a few millimeters and a slight curvature at the back. The iPod Touch is now .5mm thicker than its predecessor. The funny thing is, we think the silicon cases that came out before Apple announced the new iPods would fit perfectly.
