Microsoft is planning a phone, yes, and it has been given the code-name “Pink.” Sounds very interesting. Here’s what CNBC’s Jim Goldman says, “I’m hearing from a good source that Microsoft is ready to give a major facelift to the company’s Zune music player that could mean its evolution into a new smart phone from [...]

Zunes have gotten cheaper yet again. The price cuts this time are subtle but we now have an under-$100 Zune with the 4GB flash version dropping to $99. The 8GB and 16GB have dropped to $139 and $199 respectively. The price cuts will make it easier for retailers to sell their inventory during the Christmas [...]

It’s finally confirmed. Windows Mobile 7 won’t exactly be the next mobile OS coming from Microsoft, but it’ll eventually come right after Windows Mobile 6.5 is done basking in the spotlight. Windows Mobile 6.5 is expected to be available next year, but as to its specific release date, that is anybody’s guess at the moment. [...]

31. October 2008

While for the most part Windows Vista has drawn the ire of netbook users for being too much of a memory hog, Microsoft has apparently addressed this issue in their next OS, Windows 7. Apparently, the Windows 7 beta runs relatively well on an Asus Eee PC 1000H that comes equipped with an Intel 1.6GHz [...]

Zune Gears of War 2 Edition

1. October 2008

Microsoft will be testing another potentially explosive tie-in for the Zune. The special edition Halo 3 Zune did really well for them and it’s time for Gears of War 2 to prove its popularity. If indeed GOW 2 could help the Zune 120 (120GB) sell, it’ll prove that Halo 3 is not the only game [...]

As the new Zunes become available, Microsoft has decided to give the Zune 80GB a $50 price cut. It’s a very significant downgrade as it places the HDD Zune below the $200 PMP bracket. Of course the Zune 80 will get the Zune 3.0 update as well, so the only difference between the new HDD [...]

The Zune 120 has just passed the FCC and is only waiting for an official announcement from Microsoft. The hardware is similar to the Zune 80, though 120GB is nothing much next to the Newman 800 and it’s also 40GB less than the largest capacity iPod. No details on pricing. [via istartedsomething]

Nokia to get Zune Marketplace

4. August 2008

Microsoft and Nokia is working on giving Nokia phones access to the Zune Marketplace. There is not going to be a Nokia-Zunephone, which would’ve already brought the tech-blogging world into a mad frenzy (I’m several hours late with the news) but a more sober content delivery integration. It’s interesting to note that Nokia phones support [...]

Zune Phone to Run Windows Mobile 7?

27. July 2008

‘Tis only a rumor but the implications are endlessly interesting. ZunePhone running Windows Mobile 7, said to be a real competitor to OS X. Also, Windows Live Services will be its focal feature. The ZunePhone will be a multi-touch phone, of course, but there’s no hint of possible screen size and connectivity. We can assume [...]

Bill Gates: A Really Short Commentary on the Man’s Retirement

27. June 2008

What I can’t understand is how the richest software company with the best people available to them cannot improve Windows, make it as good or even better than OS X? Gates was a tough businessman. Not very creative and not even a good visionary but he was super smart in all his business dealings, guiding Microsoft [...]
