It’s not the most interesting news but we’ve had a few SAFA PMPs that have impressed us by their elegant design. The 1.5-inch SAFA Bandi is not out there to impress but to steal the hearts of those who have a soft spot for pretty devices. The MP3 player will be available this month and according to Aving will featureĀ  “touch scroll, sound quality and distinctive GUI like a lightning bug.” Price is 60,000 won ($49) for the 2GB model and 80,000 won ($65) for the 4GB model.

The Pleigo X11 and X12 are low-end PMPs that are bound to be mistaken for Chinese MP4s The Korean company also managed to make the players very thin at only 5.6mm. There is only 2 inches of screen space on the X12 and 1.5 inches on the X12 but they are OLED screens. The casing is a solid aluminium so the 5.6-mm thinness gets extra support. They have FM and microSD slots and play AVI and MP3, WMA. The X11 is avaialble in 2GB and 4GB while the X12 is available in 8GB.

The KM35 is an interesting portable TV and WiFi-enabled PMP. It doesn’t have a price yet but the Windows CE operating system is reminiscent of the most interesting Chinese MP4-slash-pocket PCs we’ve featured before on PMP Today. The KM35 is a 3.5-inch QVGA player with optional DVB-T/H, ISDB-T or T-DMB TV tuners. There’s also FM and SD expansion for the onboard 4GB or 8GB memory. The wood finish should tell you this will make a great in-car accessory.

Korea’s Meritech has a unique-looking touchscreen PMP for us. On the other hand, besides the metallic frame around the screen, the Meritech M35 does not really possess too much originality. It has a 3.5-inch touch screen, a PND-type user-interface and a DMB TV tuner. It has SRS WOW HD and support for MP3, WMA, ASF, OGG, APE and FLAC. It’s not too pricey for a Korean make with the 8GB costing $179 and the 16GB $217.

TG’s FAVICON TN-3000 is one giant splash in the outsize PMP market with 7-inch of screen space boasting WVGA resolution and a swanky approach to design. This is a very good-looking PMP for in-car use. It has a DMB tuner and support for AVI, ASF, WMV, MPG, OGG, WMA, WAV, JPG, BMP, PNG. No idea if this is touchscreen or if it has GPS. The pricing - 320 euros ($477) - suggests either way. There’s only 4GB of storage on board.

Maxian is a maker of masculine portable media players. The Korean company is also big on e-Dictionaries and their new entercational device will have a crisp 4.3 WVGA screen - that’s 800 x 480 pixels - and support for Divx, Xvid, MPEG, WMV7/8/9, H. 264, MKV, MP2, MP3, MP4, WAV, OGG, AC3, AAC, FLAC, APE, MKA (HD 1280 x 720px). On top of that there is WiFi and DVB-T. The form factor is very manly to say the least - solid, rectangular with rounded edges. t will come in 30GB and 60GB versions. Too bad the storage is pretty neanderthal as well.

If you don’t mind brick-like iPhone clones with stylus input on the touchscreen, you’d find the UDEA D250 will suit your needs as a PMP. It’s a mini-eDic as well with 32 different dictionaries in 4 languages and comes with handwriting recognition. It’s of course an audio and video player as well as photo viewer and text reader. It will set you back 179,000(KRW) or $175. This is for the D250. A cheaper version the UDEA Discovery 200 (D200) minus the dictionaries is priced at 149,000 (KRW) or $147. I’d say I get the full version.

The anticipated iRiver SPINN is a 3.2-inc WQVGA touchscreen PMP with Motion Touch Technology that provides haptic feedback and a SPINN Wheel control, already mentioned when this PMP was first announced. It will have DMB, DAB and FM tuners, Bluetooth 2.0, support for AVI, WMV, TXT, SWF (flash lite 2.1), MP3, WMA, OGG, FLAC, ASF, EPA, JPEG with a battery capacity that gives you 24 hours of audio and 5 hours of video. Itis already available in Korea for $ 259 for the 4GB and 8GB for the $299.

Although Oracom announced the A9 and the A7 in short succession, the A10, which retains the design aesthetics of their predecessor with little change, took a year to get unveiled. The Oracom A10 is available in 4GB and 8GB versions. It’s a bigger PMP with a 3-inch TFT LCD. It has TV out, FM, mic, USB 2.0 and microSD slot and support for MPEG4, AVI, WMV, ASF, MP3, WMA, OGG, WAV, TXT and JPEG. It’s out in Korea for about 150 euros ($233). Moveplayer did not mention if this was a touchscreen player but we are assuming it is based on the price and its predecessors being touchscreen.

Korea’s Sarotech has beat China-based Aigo for the most storage in a PMP, jamming a 320GB hard disk inside the Abigs DVP-260X. It’s obviously not just a portable media player and should double perfectly as a storage device that you’d be glad to take everywhere with you. It has a 2.5-inch display with support for H.264 and MKV. The HDMI and 5.1-channel will give you 1080p high-def videos. It is compatible with PAL and NTSC. Other features include FM tuner, e-Book reader and photo browsing. Comes also in 160GB version for about $278. The 320GB is priced at $328.
