This is the closest iPod Nano clone we’ve seen so far and it’s up for mass production and distribution courtesy of Orango. The V580 is a 2.4-inch PMP that promises a “visual shock” and support for RM, RMVB, FLV, AVI (Xvid / Divx), VOB, DAT and MP3, WMA, AAC plus FLAC, APE enhanced by Microsoft’s PlayFX. It’s also an e-book reader and comes with USB 2.0 and TF card expansion slot. No pricing yet. Also from Rango is the V880 (below), which already has a price but gone are the Nano clickwheel. The 350 yuan ($51) price of the V880 (2GB) should give you an idea how much the Nanoesque V580 will be going for.

There are a good selection of iPod Nano 4G clones out there but this one really caught our attention. We’re suckers for add-on cameras here at PMP Today and the 4 megapixel camera on the specs list is pretty doubtful we won;t exactly mind if that turned out to be no more than 1.3 MP. Built-in memory tops at 2GB but there is a miniSD slot for extending capacity. Strictly wholesale for now and with 25fps video support on its 2.4-inch QVGA screen you could be excused for thinking you’re better off waiting for a better iPod clone.

You can’t be more Nintendoish than Gemei’s A320. Not to be confused with the A300 PMP from the same company, the A320 is a wholly new idea from a different drawing board, the GBA-emulating one. It also supports 3G games and possibly some music and video playback as well. We’ll keep you up tp date when this one gets priced.

The PMP with a killer screen has now been priced and it’s as expected: dirt cheap. The Ainol V3000 boasts a 4.3-inch viewing space with a resolution of 800 x 480 with 16 million colors. This is the best portable viewing experience you can get out of China (for a comparison of the Ainol V3000 with other high quality MP4 players, check this post out).

The V3000 has an FM tuner and transmitter, TV out and mic recording. The 4GB player will only set you back 699 yuan or $102. Not bad as an iPod replacement in these dire times.

Sure it takes a lot of its aesthetic features from Creative’s Zen Stone but it’s frankly too pretty to be called a clone. It plays MP3, WMA, WAV and has lyric support and e-Book functionality.

The AY-P88 features 3 diamond buttons for all your interface needs/ Like the P99, its screen is too small for videos so expect playback for music files only. In addition, you will have FM and mic recording.

The AY-P66 is purposely shaped to resemble Noah’s Ark so the pun for your own little “Ark of Music” is completely justified. No FM here and similar file playback as the other Yushchenko players.

Unfortunately, pricing has not bee announced yet but expect the MSRP to suit your recession needs.

I wonder though if the CiPhone i88i isn;t better off cloning the original iPhone 2G, a slimmer device than iPhone 3G. Features-wise, this is nothing special from the other SmartQ MP4 players we’ve seen but we noticed a current trend in screen resolution from China. We like what’s been happening and hope it continues.

OPPO has been one of the most promising MP4 player manufacturers. Their Smart PMP line, though not exactly groundbreaking, has been especially interesting. The new Oppo Muse (Smart G11), also previously reported as the more generic sounding Smart Game, is a PMP game emulator whose obvious parent (the iRiver G10) would be proud to have conceived. Not that the complete specs of the Muse has been made available yet, but the few things we know like the WVGA rotating screen and Chrono Trigger-supporting processor makes us crave for more leakage.

The 3-inch touchscreen teclast M33 may not be sleek enough to succeed the M26 but it does have enough resemblance to the iRiver W7 to make it our Chinese PMP/ MP4 player news of the day. For 499 yuan, you get an 8GB version with TTS, TV out, a 432 × 240-pixel Fujitsu MVA screen, built-in mic, FM radio and the usual codec support: RMVB, RM, FLV, AVI, WMV, DAT, MPG, MP3, WMA, FLAC, APE, OGG. The MicroSD slot supports up to 32GB SD cards. It’s almost a miracle one could own one for $73.

It’s not every day that we come across a PMP maker that’s so far behind the times as Akai. With its Japanese-sounding name, one would think a 1.3 megapixel camera at the back of its latest PMP, especially one so glaringly old-fashioned, not to mention huge, wouldn’t be something it would be proud of. On the contrary, Akai is pretty hyped up over the K11, which, besides having a decent 3-inch 400 x 240-ixel screen and AVI, RM, RMVB support, has a 1.3 MP at the back. The camera is a huge one, reminding us that tech from three years ago may come back to haunt us via China. Oh, yes, the MP3, WMA, AAC, APE, FLAC and PlayFX should clue you in about the Chinese origins of this baby.
