The Samsung P2 with DMB Tuner, also known as PB2, will have a BMW edition will be launched soon. As you can see from the photo, the tie-in is specific to BMW motorcycles, which is pretty cool and also pretty dangerous, ie. riding on a motorcycle while listening to your PMP or even viewing DMB TV stations. I honestly prefer the LG FM37 Volkswagen Beetle edition as a promotional strategy. No pricing yet but I’m not sure they should put a premium on a BMW-themed wallpaper.

Here’s one way to kill the iPhone, make a touchscreen cellphone with high-rez screen, high-def support and other specs that equal one of the best cellphones out there in the market: the HTC Touch Diamond. There is such a device now, freshly announced by HTC. The HTC Touch HD gives users 3.8 inches of touchscreen and a 800 x 480-pixel resolution. This is a Windows Mobile phone, like the Diamond, and like the Diamond it will have A-GPS, 7.2mbps HSDPA and 512MB of ROM and 288MB of RAM. It’s a very powerful portable entertainment and, we assume, business device. No pricing yet but HD on a cellphone will not come cheap.

It’s not only the iPods that are going to have their software updated, the Microsoft Zune will be enjoying the Zune 3.0 software soon. All Zunes will support the new firmware via the update feature. With the new firmware comes the capability to buy from FM and music updating via WiFi. In fact, we’ve already mentioned these new Zune 3.0 features when we posted news on the blue flash Zune availability. Included in the entire package of the update is audio book support. Wow. Dell has simplified matters, redubbing the formerly Inspiron 910 to the Inspiron Mini 9,. The basic Obsidian Black configuration begins at $349. It will run on Ubuntu and will have no camera or Bluetooth. Of course, since it’s a Dell, you can configure the Mini 9 to run XP and include Bluetooth 2.1 and a 1.3 MP webcam, not to mention higher RAM or color it Alpine White for an extra $25. The 1.6GHz Intel Atom N270 processor, the 8.9-inch 1024 X 600 LED screen and 802.11gWiFi is the same in all configurations. The Dell Inspiron Mini 9 system has disappointed quite a few observers with its less than stellar keyboard and a price range that is significantly more expensive than a similarly speced Aspire One.

Sony’s China-only PMX PMP just got a boost in the portability factor. The new PMX-U55 has a 2.4-inch 320 × 240-piel screen, supports MPEG-4, H.264/AVC Baseline Profile, AVI videos and a slim 7.5mm profile. It also plays MP3, WMA and AAC in six audio modes. Its identical with the U50 and the U53 so I’m not sure what the deal is with the numerical progression to U55. The 2GB version of the U55, though, is 498 yuan cheap ($73). Only the pink version is available at this price. You get 12 hours of audio and 5 hours of video, which is pretty good for the price point.

The iRiver P20 is an HD player with a 4.1-inch AMOLED screen and support for DMB TV. We’re expecting up to 160GB of memory but options are 80Gb and 120GB only so far. It will feature the new iRiver SPINN user interface. and plays 9 hours of video.

The iRiver M3 is a PMP/ PND with 3.5-inch screen. Really not as exciting as COWON’s announcement of the S9 Curve but iRiver has the Unit II waiting behind the curtains for officialization so stay tuned. We’d really love to learn more about this media center-cum-PMP from iRiver.

The COWON O2 is a 4.3-inch touch screen PMP with D2 form facto It also has T-DMB TV and comes in 8, 16 and 32GB versions.

No pricing on these COWON PMPs yet but they are not going to be cheap.

Even before the iPod Nano 4G is officially announced by Apple, COWON would’ve killed it with the newly announced S9 Curve, a deliciously designed PMP in a metal casing. It has a 3.3-inch 480 x 272-pixel AMOLED screen, which is a capacitive touchscreen, and 500 MHz of dual-core processing power. T-DMB, G-Sensor (for gesture control) and dynamic dictionary is among its features. The COWON S9 Curve plays 40 hours of continuous music. Looks pretty expensive too.

COWON has also announced, besides the S9 Curve, two other new products. We’ll write about those later on in the day.

It’s not the 606 and other 6th generation PMP Archos announced to day but a new line of devices - namely, the “5″ and “7″ multimedia Internet tablets. Problem is with these new devices, there’s no need for Archos PMPs. The Archos 5 and 7 are not only WiFi-enabled multimedia players, they have a new UI that is significantly better than the Archos Gen5 UI and capacities range from 60GB to 250GB (350 to 500 euros) for the Archos 5 and 160GB to 320GB (450 to 550euros) for the Archos 7. The 5 and 7 are not only screen-dominated devices, they come with various accessories (DVR station, battery dock, GPS car holder, FM remote) so that you could do just about everything you can think of doing to entertain yourself on the g0 and each Archos 5 and 7 come with WebTV & Radio, something Archos WiFi 5th-Generation owners are already enjoying after they shelled out $20. Very exciting news for Archos fans.

Update: You can slide in a 3G SIM card in these new Archos devices, so there you go WiFi, 3G and if you take a look at the video below, a pretty neat web browser.
